Hey, finally there is something stoopid enough to put on this page!

 

This really isn't that stupid and could probably be very beneficial. Check out this little write up I have on case cooling for a tower setup. Have you ever tried to overclock a computer and gotten it to work? Maybe you did for about five minutes and then the poor beast was overcome by an unseen case of heat exhaustion. The answer my friends is cooling the system. Not to sound too much like a Physics lecture but I gotta do it. As most of you should know, heat travels up and cold down. This heat is wasted energy given off by the components of a system. The heat is carried by air currents in the case of the computer. This is pretty good except for the fact that this heat builds up and will eventually cause damage. The two solutions are build more efficient components or get rid of the build up of heat. The easiest way I know of to get rid of this build up is to circulate the hot air. An intake fan for cold air and an exhaust fan for hot air is a good start, but placement is important too. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION!!! As I mentioned earlier, heat rises and cold falls. In this light, the best place for an intake fan would be down low where the colder air is. The best place for those exhaust fans would be, you guessed it, at the top where the hot air wants to go. This looks pretty good and in most cases, all that is neccesary is the addition of a fan down low to circulate cold air in and a fan up high to get hot air out. So, we have the basic idea and now I will give you a diagram to look at and maybe even copy down. (The displayed case has 4 fans, two intake, two exhaust for more efficient circulation)

 

There you have it, an excellent cooling system that should help you keep temperatures down in your case. As far as power requirements and noise... may the force be with you.
